Time to Get Cultured
Culture is often ignored, overlooked, or misinterpreted in the workplace. Defined as “the behavior and beliefs characteristic of a particular group”, the culture of a company is a huge factor in potential success, especially when it comes to developing new performers, leaders, and clients. It all starts with the physical presence of the facility and then every encounter with every person thereafter. Think about it. How many times have you been in a situation in your business or personal life where the “behavior and beliefs” or atmosphere was an important factor? My answer is ALWAYS and regardless of price. Whether it’s an automobile dealership, grocery store, dry cleaners, boardroom, or office environment, the culture is always on display. With all due respect, it’s all about the Golden Rule. If the culture is inviting, open, candid, professional, and most of all CONSISTENT, the chances are that sales, operations, and customer service departments are working in harmony to maximize earnings. At the same time, when you are getting mixed messages and the attitudes are inconsistent, you can bet that things are not running smoothly behind the scenes. The moral of the story is pay attention to Culture, as it’s a reflection of leadership.
