Why DISC?
During my entire career working for others, having others work for me, meeting with peers, prospects or current clients, and recruiting, there has been one common denominator. Each individual brings their own communication and personality style to the table. In my early years, I had to learn that not everyone thinks the way I think. Fortunately, I became exposed to DISC early on and realized how much this tool could help me in all of my communication including my everyday life. When I learned my personality profile and the 3 other styles laid out by this popular tool, my career took off and has been the foundation for my success since. Once I learned how to interact by understanding the style of my audience, I was able to get the results I desired much easier and DISC helped guide me through the pitfalls of treating everyone the same. This is a common mistake made by many leaders. Their style is “I, therefore, you” instead of “YOU, therefore, I.” As I watched my peers encounter turnover issues, I focused on building strong interpersonal relationships with my group and teaching them how to do the same with their business. I started watching them have fun and make friends who wanted to buy because they trusted instead of having to overcome objections in every situation. All of a sudden they were having success by the simple anecdote: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” My workshops can include complete role play scenarios designed for meeting someone for the first time and how to make a serious impression by adjusting to their style. It is really simple as you learn how to put the spotlight on them and watch your presentation and results became much more successful.
